Positions Of Objects In Igbo
Welcome back! Today we are going to learn how to express the positions of objects in Igbo. Learning the positions of things around you makes it easier to communicate and to get information across.
We have different positions in the English language and in today’s lesson we are going to learn how to describe these positions in Igbo. The different positions of objects in Igbo are listed in the table below.

Now that we have the list of positions in Igbo above, below we put them in sentences so that we can have a better understanding of how to use them properly in a sentence.
Prepositions in Igbo are used in the same way as prepositions in English e.g.
In English
Object + is + position + place
In Igbo
Object + nọ̀ + position + place
Take note: ‘nọ̀’ refers to ‘is’.
Some examples of how to use the positions of objects in a sentence are given below.

Égó áhụ̀ nọ̀ n’ètítì ákwà nà pílò | The money is in between the cloth and the pillow |
Mkpị́sịòdéè áhụ̀ nọ̀ n’ọ́nụ́ tébùlù | The pen is at the edge of the table |
Òkpú áhụ̀ nọ̀ n’àla | The cap is on the ground |
